The Head Mistress of Onihe Primary School Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State Mrs. Patricia Anyali has said that the major duty of parents is to pay adequate attention to their children education.
She made the declaration during the maiden occasion of festival of nine lessons and carol at Ogwashi-Uku.
While saying that there is no alternative to education, she said it remains the best legacy to children, noting that a well trained child will not only be a blessing to the family but the nation in general.
The head teacher said that the school decided to organize the programme to give the children social and moral education, saying that all works and no play makes jack a dull boy.
The Secretary to Local Education Authority in the area, Prince Jude Elue, who read the first lesson on the occasion called on Parents, to give needed support to their children education.
He said children are the leaders of tomorrow, opining that the only way they will be better leaders of tomorrow, is when they are given necessary attention from cradle.
Dr. Chukwuma Robinson, Dean School of Education, Collage of Education Agbor, who delivered the forth lesson, commenced the Head Mistress for her initiative in organizing the programme, describing her as a pacesetter.
He said the programme will give the children moral education, because it creates awareness on the birth of Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Justina Enonye, Director of Nursing Services, Aniocha South Council, that took the fifth lesson, as she appealed to parents in the State to take the education of their children very seriously, because children according to her are the only joy of parents and the nation in general.
The highlight of the occasion was drama and Christmas carol presentation by the pupils of the school.

DELTA CIVIL DEFENSE CORPS TOURS LOCAL GOVT AREA OFFICE
Officials of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State have been commended for performing their duties effectively.
The Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Council, Hon. Isaac Anwuzia made the commendation during the official visit of the State Commandant of Civil Defense at Ogwashi-Uku.
The Chairman who was represented on the occasion by his Deputy, Hon Steve Asikawili said that the importance of the Civil Defense Corp cannot be overemphasized, saying that they perform their duties without fear or favour.
While describing the officials at Aniocha South as brilliant officers, he said they always perform duties effectively, irrespective of the poor funds in the Council.
Hon. Anwuzia lauded the Divisional Officer of Civil Defense in the Local Government, Mr. Usifoh Simeon, saying that he performs his duties effectively with the fear of God.
He assured the State Commandant that he will give needed support to the officers, to enable them function effectively.
Earlier in her address, the Delta State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil defense Corps, Mrs. Beatrice Irabor lauded the Council Chairman for his support to officers in his Local Government.
She said the purpose of her visit was to identify with the Council and equally to sensitize her officer especially on their duties.
She appealed to the Council to continue to support her officers, mostly in the areas of office accommodation, operational vehicle; official gadgets to enable them perform efficiently.

ORHUWHORUN INDIGENES SUE FOR PEACE
The people of Orhuwhorun Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State have been advised to continue to live in peace and unity for the purpose of development.
The President General of Orhuwhorun Community, Chief Joseph Tefue gave the advice in a chat with newsmen at Orhuwhorun.
While describing Orhuwhorun Community as a peaceful community, he urged the people to shun acts capable of disrupting the peaceful reigning in the area, reminding them that development does not go to a place of rancor and disunity.
Chief Tefue said that Orhuwhorun Community is a place where lives and property is fully secured, calling on investors to invest in the area to enable the area move to an enviable height.
He urged the newly appointed vigilante in the community to perform their duties effectively without fear or favour, to enable the Community move forward, adding that they should apply maturity and fear of God in carrying out their duties.
The community leader, while assuring the people of more developments, he appealed to them to always work towards peace, opining that peace is the only thing that will help the area move forward.
Tefue charged the people to always love, care and support one another in the interest of peace and development.
