Online Publishers in Delta State have been assured of Government’s support as long as ethics of the profession prevailed in the discharge of their constitutional duties. Hon. Charles Aniagwu Commissioner for Information Delta State gave the charge yesterday during an interactive session with Online Publishers when the group paid him a courtesy visit in his Office.
The Commissioner observed that the group has been painstaking as they go about their duties to ensure that accurate information was given to the public hence the government was not distracted by unverified or untrue reportage.
Commissioner Aniagwu stated that apart from supporting the group for being objective in their reportage, the Government viewed their contribution as very key to the successful and conclusive implementation of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa’s stronger Delta Agenda.
In his words “In all ramifications, it pays us that you survive, and not only that you survive but that you thrive beyond breaking even, I will take it up and think of how to work out a much more successful partnership that will enable you to exist and perform your duties and responsibilities responsibly”.
The Commissioner stated that he was impressed by the leadership qualities being exhibited by the incumbent executive while observing that the leadership style had engendered a lot of decorum and dignity to online publishing as well as helping to reduce idleness and criminality among the populace especially the Youths who now engage in acquiring useful knowledge through the internet.
Earlier in his presentation, the Chairman of Delta State Online Publishers, Mr. Emmanuel Enebeli told the Commissioner that apart from coming to congratulate him on his well deserved appointment as Commissioner for Information, the group came to reason with him on how enhance the already existing partnership with the government and to seek for more patronage from the state government noting that the leadership of the group to a certain level had ensured that sensational and destructive stories don’t emanate from their stable.
