Maintain Current Pace Of Service Delivery, Aniagwu Urges Staff

The efforts of the management and staff of the Delta State Printing and Publishing Company Limited, Publishers of Pointer Newspaper in keying into the vision of Government to making the newspaper viable and able to compete with other major newspapers has received the attention and commendation of government.

The Commissioner for Information Hon. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu yesterday gave the kudos after inspecting the ongoing renovation within the Pointer corporate headquarters in Asaba.

Hon. Aniagwu stated that he was undertaking the inspection of facilities because Government is interested in the working environment of those in its employ so as to ensure maximum output from the workers .  

The Commissioner told Newsmen that government is working hard to put its establishments on sound footing especially parastatals under the Ministry of Information starting with Pointer which can now boast of modern office equipment, more vehicles for effective distribution of the Pointer titles to the nook and crannies both within the State and also in adjoining states, with a view to making it a Regional Newspaper.

The Information Commissioner stated that government is keen on establishing a modern Printing Press to ensure that issue of delays and other things that inhibit the smooth operation of the outfit were reduced drastically.

The Commissioner stated that just like the Pointer other establishments (Delta Broadcasting Service Asaba and Warri) within the purview of the Ministry were also being re-positioned to deliver on their mandate and promised that the government will continue to give adequate attention to workers who are the drivers of government policies and programmes.
