Deltans have been charged to continue to be patient and have faith in the Government of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa as he continues to strive towards alleviating the suffering occasioned by the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, gave the charge today in his office while playing host to members of International Human Rights Commission, Delta State Chapter who came to identify with him and present him an award in recognition of his laudable management of information in the state.

Mr. Aniagwu noted that due to the proactive stance of the Government, Delta State has been able to tackle headlong the challenges of the pandemic through constant education, enlightenment and provision of palliatives to the less privileged which were aimed at checking the negative effects of Covid 19 .

While appreciating the gesture of the organization especially by recognizing the efforts of the Government in making life less cumbersome for the populace, the Commissioner stated that he was doing what he was appointed to do and would continue to do his best to justify the confidence reposed on him.

On the efforts of Government in alleviating poverty among Deltans, Mr. Aniagwu noted that the State being ranked second to Lagos in terms of economic development and reduction of unemployment, is an indication that the State Government was taking its promise of ‘prosperity for all Deltans’ seriously and had deliberately put measures in place to engage as many as possible that could not be employed by the Government or private sector.

To this end, key infrastructures like roads, Urban Renewal, Youth Empowerment through Agriculture and Skill Acquisition were vigorously pursued and the measures have to a large extent reduced poverty and unemployment in the State.

Mr. Aniagwu promised that Government would always partner with organizations whose aims were geared towards collaborating with Government to make life better for the people and urged the International Human Rights Organization to pursue its mandate with more vigour in order to make the society conducive for all.

Earlier, the Delta State Coordinator of Human Right Organization, Mr. Fidelis Onakpoma told the Commissioner that the delegation came to present “International Grand Appreciation Award” to him for his devotion and sacrifice towards the fight against Covid 19 and help in protecting the less privileged from the effects of the Pandemic.
