ANIAGWU PROMISES CONTINUED PARTNERSHIP WITH PRIVATE OWNED MEDIA

Private owned media houses within and outside the state have been assured of the full support of the Delta State government through the Ministry of Information.

This assurance was given  by the Delta State Information Commissioner, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, when staff of Odenigbo FM led by their Station Manager, Mr Chike Ogborgu, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

The information commissioner, who felicitated with Mr. Ogborgu, on his appointment as the new Station Manager, stated that his appointment would help to solidify the existing relationship with the Delta State Government

He attested to the fact that Odenigbo FM, had worked with him when he was the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, as he saw the need then to go beyond Delta in information dissemination.

He also stated that collaborating with the radio station would help in job creation which will invariably reduce crime rate, boost security and by extension, the economy of the state and the nation.

According to the commissioner, “For those who do not understand why we support media which are not resident in Delta State, beyond the information we get from you, we also want you to remain in business as this will indirectly reflect on our economy.”

Mr Aniagwu stated that Governor Okowa has done projects that are quite and so projecting his name has never been an issue, saying, “One thing you should know is that the Delta State government does not thrive on propaganda. You see what we have done. If we have not done it you will know that we have not.”

He commended Odenigbo radio station for the good reportage over the years and pleaded that they continue in that direction, even as he gave the assurance that the Ministry would give them their full support.

Speaking earlier, Mr Chike Ogborgu said that on assumption of office, he had noticed the relationship with the Delta State Government and deemed it necessary to continue the relationship to boost information dissemination.

Present at the visit were the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Paul Osahor, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Kingsley Olomukoro, Director of Finance and Account, Mr. Dominic Omogbesiayeh among others.
