As part of their operational principles of impacting on society, Rotary Club Asaba Metropolitan has constructed and unveiled a Rotary Monument by the Maryam Babangida Way along the Asaba Benin Expressway.
The event which took place yesterday enjoyed the presence of the State Commissioner for Information, Ogbueshi Patrick Ukah, his Works counterpart, Chief James Augoye and the Rotary District Governor, Rtn. Adeyemi Oladokun.
Unveiling the project, the State Commissioner for Information, Ogbueshi Patrick Ukah commended the Rotary club for their commitment to the betterment of society.
According to him, a project of such calibre is in consonance with beautification efforts which are part of the Urban Renewal drive of the state government.
In the same vein, Ukah encouraged private sector driven organisations to learn to complement government development strides through their corporate social responsibility as government alone cannot do it all.
”We have always and will continue to encourage the private sector to key into society driven projects. We are very glad as a government seeing this project. On behalf of the State governor and the good people of Delta State I congratulate you. We appreciate the effort.” Ukah stated.
Earlier, The District Governor, Rtn. Adeyemi Oladokun as well as the Club President, Rtn. Lolo Nneka Enwelu who took their turns, said the project was part of their drive to complement government’s efforts of beautifying Delta State as well as do the little they can to curb road accidents that had become a daily occurrence on that road.
They said, that lending helping hand to society is part of their core interest and that they will not fail as a club to do so.
