The Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has paid his last respect to late Nene Itoto Seigha Samson Ogoba (Nee Igere), the mother of the Monarch of Gbaramutu Kingdom who passed on to glory recently.

Governor Okowa who was represented at the burial ceremony of late Nene Itoto Seigha Samson Ogoba, by his deputy, Deacon Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, at Oporoza in Gbaramutu Kingdom of Delta State, described the departed monarch’s mother as a woman of virtue who lived a life of passion, dedication and commitment to the course of humanity and total devotion to her entire people.

The Governor explained that the life and time of the departed mother of the monarch was worth celebrating, saying she lived a fruitful time and years why on earth before passing on to the world beyond, calling on all to emulate her life style.

The Governor added “On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, we are here to celebrate the life and time of our mommy, Nene Itoto Seigha Samson (Nee Igere) who of course, lived a fruitful time and years on earth and passed on to glory. We have come to celebrate with the King of Gbaramutu Kingdom, that is indeed why we are here and I want to establish on record that our mommy has lived a life of commitment, a life of passion, and dedication to the service of mankind as well as to this kingdom, therefore, we need to celebrate all that she has achieved, the legacies she has left behind to us will be remembered as an inspiration to many of us.”

The Governor, who described the moment as a celebration of life, further appreciated the efforts of all those persons that came from far and near to grace the event, praying to God Almighty to protect the monarch and his entire kingdom and all Deltans and non Deltans who attended the event.

Assemblies of God Church Airport road Warri Delta State was agog as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Asaba, Chief Steve Eroutor, gave out his daughter’s hand in marriage.

The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, amongst other eminent Nigerians was in attendance during the church marriage.

The Minister of the gospel, Pastor Ben Olley who officiated during the event enjoined the couple to make love their watch word and never give everyone room for third party interference in their marriage, but to always allow the word of God to rule them.

Pastor Olley who read the book of Romans 5 : verse 1, said “We Christians are justified people by faith, not just faith but that which is deeply rooted in Christ who came all the way from Heaven to sacrifice his life as a ransom for our sins. We have peace as children of God, therefore we must be patient in what we do especially in a moment when the unexpected happens in our lives and always remain and be guided by the word of God.”

The cleric maintained that this period when we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, we should know that patience bring experience and hope, even as he congratulated the new couple.

The Chairman of the of the occasion and the Head of Service, Delta State, Mr Reginald Bayoko, prayed God to protect and shower His blessing on the couple throughout their marital life.

The father of the bride, Chief Steve Eroutor, expressed delight at the success of the marriage, adding that it was a dream come true, a day he had longed to see, just as he prayed for his daughter and his son-in-law to enjoy a very successful marital life.

Chief Eroutor describe the day as a great milestone and excitement in the Eroutor’s family, adding: “We are giving our daughter in marriage from the Eroutor’s Dynasty and it is a thing of joy most especially the Acting Governor of the state Deacon Kingsley Burutu Otuaro was also present at the church wedding including persons from all over the world to grace the occasion and you can see that is a huge success”

“I want to congratulate them from the depth of my heart and I also want to advice that they should be patient, tolerant, and as well have the acronym “PUT” patience, understanding, and tolerance, with one another which can only sustain their marriage,” he stated, adding, “Once you have these three ingredients of marriage, the relationship must stand the test of time, and thing will work out for you.”

Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has been commended for results oriented approach adopted by his administration towards the realization of his policies and programmes, particularly water supply, sanitation and hygiene in the state.

The European Union Head of Cooperation delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mr Kurt Cornelis who gave the commendation at Oliego-Umuseti and Obi-Ofu communities in Ndokwa West Local Government Area during the official commissioning of water schemes funded by the EU, UNICEF and Delta state Government said that water infrastructure was critical for the well-being of the people.

Mr Cornelis particularly applauded the state government for the payment of its counterpart contribution for the scheme, saying that it was an indication that the government had the interest of his people at heart.

He also lauded the Commissioner for Water Resources Development, Sir Fidelis Tilije for being proactive in ensuring that there was sustainable and potable water supply in the state and advised the beneficiaries to evolve ways of sustaining the facilities.

In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Water Resources Development, Sir Fidelia Tilije who thanked the international donor agencies especially the European Union and UNICEF for their partnership with the state government in key areas described water as social and economic commodity.

Sir Tilije said that EU had funded 333 water facilities in four local government areas in the state just as he urged the communities to generate some revenue in order to be able to maintain and sustain the water projects.

The commissioner enjoined members of WASH committee and water consumers association in the two communities to justify the confidence reposed in them by working above board so that the essence of the initiative would not be in vain.

Earlier in a goodwill message, the Team Leader, Niger Delta EU Support programme, Mr Albert Achten said that the water schemes would impact positively on the daily lives of the people of the area.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the commissioning, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Mrs Felicia Adun said that the ministry of Water Resources Development had continued to receive international agencies’ support, adding that water was sensitive for the health and well-being of the beneficiaries.

The Chairman of Ndokwa West Local Government Council, Hon. Ifeanyi Osakwe, the WASH committee chairman for Obi-Ofu , Chief Stephen Ajieh and his counterpart in Olieogo -Umuseti community, Elder Ogbolu pledged to sustain the water infrastructure through consistent maintenance.

A former councillor in Warri South Local Government Council, Hon Richard Okoro is now the Oghwuvwie of Edjeba , a host community of Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) and College of Education, Warri.

The community was in a festive mood during the handover of leadership between the out gone Oghwuvwie Comrade Kingsley Okekeri ( aka Sheriff ) and Hon Richard Okoro after the inauguration of the executive committee on Thursday April 25th, 2019

In a chat our correspondent at the event, Hon Richard Okoro thanked the people of the community for him giving the opportunity to serve as he promised to operate an open door policy of administration and improved on the achievements of his predecessor.

While the out gone Oghwuvwie of Edjeba Warri Community, Comrade Okekeri expressed confidence that his successor would deliver, adding, “I am happy that I am handling over to a resourceful, honest, credible and patriotic person” urging the people of Edjeba Community to support him (Hon Richard Okoro).

A onetime councillor in Sapele local government area, Hon Philip Biokoro has congratulated the governor of Delta state Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur OKowa on his victory at the March 9 2019 election.

Hon Biokoro while expressing his appreciation to Deltans over the governors victory, also felicitated with Hon Austin Ayemidejor, (Project Director Asaba International Airport), Chief Barrister Kingsley Esiso, (the oruese of Agbon kingdom PDP State Chairman),

Hon Biokoro who addressed journalists in Sapele, explained that Okowa has proved serious commitmment and enthusiasm in the overall development of the state since assumption of office as the governor, remarking that his re-election is indeed a recognition by Deltans for Okowa’s deed that deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.

The former councillor added that the landslide victory and massive vote from the electorates in sapele and Delta state for OKowa is an affirmation of appreciation for the several development projects and performance of Okowa during his first term.

He appealed to the governor to accelerate the pace of infrastructural development and human capital development in appreciation for this God given mandate.

Hon Biokoro assured the people that they are in for more deeds as the state will record and witness more development projects and jobs opportunities during the governor’s second term in office, stressing that the people never made any mistake in their choice for Okowa whom they came out to vote for enmass.

He equally expressed unalloyed appreciation to the persons listed above for their support for the governor as well as their contributions towards the growth of Sapele Local Government Area, while appealing to the governor for the overall development of Sapele Local Government Area the more during his second tenure.

He commended the governor for the numerous developmental projects being executed in Sapele Local Government Area under his watch, remarking that the construction of major link roads in the area will further boast the economy of the city and bring it back to its former glory.
