OTUARO SAYS MAKARFI VICTORY IS FOR DEMOCRACY
The confirmation of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi led faction as the authentic leadership of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) by the Supreme Court has been described as victory for democracy and good omen for all lovers of the party.
The Delta State Acting Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro stated this while celebrating the victory with PDP faithful including his wife, Engr. Mr. Ebierin Otuaro, in his lodge in Asaba.
Barr Otuaro, said the Supreme Court and the judiciary has endeared itself to the masses with the ruling and advised those who defected in the wake of the crisis to come back as the leadership of the party has been handed back to the constituted owners.
His words: “We give thanks to God for a day like this, this is a victory of consolidation, a victory for democracy, and we are very grateful, we give praises to God. I want to use this opportunity to call on every PDP faithful that for one reason or the other, has been disenchanted, this is the time to come back, this is your home, home is home, so please come back.”
The Acting Governor said that, the PDP umbrella is wide enough to accommodate all, emphasizing that, now that the legal tussle is over, the party will work assiduously to get all lost positions back including the presidency comes 2019.
Barr. Otuaro sued for peace and unity among the members to enable the party move forward. According to him; “Together, we will continually build on the foundation that has been laid for us by the founding fathers of the party, and it will be from grace to grace.
“Undoubtedly, come 2019, we are not only taking all the states in the country, we are will be seating right there at the presidency, this, I believe is what the lord has destined for us, and so shall it be. Barr. Otuaro said.
In their separate remarks, the PDP chairman, Delta South Senatorial district, Chief Emma Agbanduba, the Political Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Omimi Esquire, the State Organizing Secretary, Chief Sunday Onoriode and other PDP faithfuls asserted that victory came at the right time.
They commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for being an astute believer in the Senator Makarfi led faction and assured him of their undivided support at all times. They enjoined all members to be more committed in advancing the growth of the party and ensuring that victory is achieved in all future elections.

BRACE UP TO YOUR ROLES: SSG URGES INFORMATION OFFICERS
Information Officers in Delta State have been charged to brace-up in their roles in the propagation of communication policies and programmes of the state government to the general public.
The Secretary to State Government (SSG), Hon. Festus Ovie Agas, gave the charge at the Press Centre, Government House Asaba, while declaring open a one-day workshop for Information Officers on the Role of Information Officers in the Implementation of the SMART agenda of the state government organized by the state Ministry of Information.
Hon. Agas said Information Officers play a vital role in good governance as they are image makers, negotiators and facilitators, adding that they also provide feedback to the government on public opinions.
He urged them to take the one day seminar seriously as part of ensuring the success of the SMART Agenda of the present administration in order to serve the state better.
The SSG thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for approving the one day training which is targeted at further developing the officers for better service delivery.
On his part, the Commissioner for Information Mr. Patrick Ukah, in an interactive section, noted that the role of the officers was critical in educating the public on government policies and programmes, even as they served the needed feedback agents to government on such policies and programmes.
He stated that it was their duty to research and get public opinion and advice chief executives through strategic planning and therefore charged the officers to ensure the implementation of the SMART Agenda by being alive to their statutory responsibilities.
In his opening lecture, the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Dr. Rotimi Oladele, informed the officers that public relations practice was a planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain goodwill between an organization and its publics, adding that they were mediators between government and the governed.
He noted that one of the key strategies to ensure success in the practice was to maintain credibility which they must strive to sustain at all times.
Also speaking, the state Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko, said Information Officers had a central role to play in good governance and therefore urged the participants to understand their duties which according to him included assisting government to monitor publications in the media.
He stressed the need for synergy between the public, stake holders and government in order to enhance performance and thanked the Governor for approving the seminar as part of the human capital development of the state.
The former Head of the state civil service, Sir Okey Ofili, in a lecture titled Work Ethics and Information Officers urged the participants to be mindful of their attitude to work adding that as information Officers, they were bound by rules and regulations of the civil service.
While stressing the need for motivation of staff, Sir Ofili noted that information officers should at all times promote the image of the government and advised them to uphold the core value of the service which according to him included impartiality, anonymity, and neutrality.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of souvenir to resource persons as well as certificates to the participants.

LESS PRIVILEGED: BAYOKO CALLS ON PHILANTHROPIC ORGANIZATIONS’ FOR SUPPORT
The Head of Service (HoS) of Delta State, Mr. Reginald Bayoko mni, has called on philanthropic organizations to show their worth during this period of recession so as to ameliorate the suffering of the less privilege among us.
The Head of Service made this call when merchant Club, Asaba paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Asaba.
Mr Bayoko who is a patron of the Club thanked them for their charitable gesture to humanity over the years, saying that they will always be rewarded for how they care of the poor in their environment.
He appealed to social groups and well meaning individuals across the divide to come to support the good work of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa in bringing prosperity to all Deltans.
The HoS stressed that the rich people in the society could genuinely enjoy their wealth if it is reasonably shared o provide shelter, clothe and food to those that are sincerely in need.
In his remark, the Chairman, merchant Club, Asaba, Mr. Reuben Ishaka thanked the HoS for his immense contribution towards the success of the Club since his installation as a Patron of the Club.
Mr. Ishaka said the achievement of the Club so far and the satisfaction of those empowered within this period will be sustained to a great extent, even as he assured the HoS of their support throughout his tenure.
He also congratulated him on his elevation to the position of the Head of Service while praying that God will grant him all the wisdom to succeed in taking the civil service to the next level.

FORTETA ASSURES INDUSTRIAL TRAINING FUND OF GOVT. SUPPORT
Delta State Government has called on Federal Government agencies to collaborate more with the State in the area of youth development.
The Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Asupa Forteta made this call during a courtesy visit by the Management Staff of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Warri Area Office to his office in Asaba.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Youth Development, Mrs. Fidelia N. Nwaka stated that the State was passionate about developing the youth since they are the strength of the nation, adding that by training the youth, you train the nation.
He urged for more collaboration, interaction and partnership between ITF and the State in developing and training the youth in skills and other vocational activities so as to create more job and take the youth out of the street.
Hon. Asupa stated that the State would key into ITF programmes since they are in conformity to the SMART agenda of the present administration led by Senator Dr. Okowa, even as he urged ITF to identify core areas that are of interest to the youth to train them.
He assured the Management Staff of ITF of the State Government’s support whenever it is needed by the agency, even as he urged ITF to expand the scope of its training to include cottage industry, agro-processing and tourism.
Earlier the leader of the team and Area Manager of ITF, Mr. Udeme Akpabio who stated that the agency trained 500 persons in 2016, appreciated the State Government for the wonderful development strides it has achieved in the area of youth Development especially by the Job Creation Office.
He appealed to the State Government to give more support in terms of providing starter packs for trainees of the agency, saying that ITF is interested in partnering with the State to develop the youth.
Mr. Akpabio revealed that the Agency would start the 2017 training programme by August, 2017 for successful candidates.

BAYOKO SAYS GOVT. WILL CONTINUE TO PARTNER WITH INDUSTRIAL TRAINING FUND
The Head of Service (HoS), Delta State, Mr. Reginald Bayoko mni has revealed that the present government of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is ready to partner with any group willing to deliver quality services on human capital development.
Mr. Bayoko made the remark when the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Warri Area Office paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Asaba.
He acknowledged the capacity demonstrated over 45 years by ITF to provide, promote and encourage the acquisition of skills.
The HoS stated that government had been empowering the youth of Delta State through so many skill acquisition programmes with starter packs to motivate them to contribute what they learnt towards the development of the society.
He assured them of government support in partnering with them to add value to their work in creating and designing programmes considering the mandate of this administration of job creation which is in tandem with their programme, saying that the government of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa will do everything possible to deliver prosperity to all Deltans.
Earlier, the Area Manager Warri ITF, Mr. Udeme Akpabio noted that their mandate was to create, design and encourage the acquisition of skills to enhance manpower development.

DELTA STATE VIGILANTE COMMANDER COMMENDS CHIEF OFA
The Delta State Vigilante logistics Commander Mr. Randy Timishe has appreciated Chief Dr. Ogheneochuko Ofa (JP), for the role he played to his command and his family while serving as the commissioner who represented Ethiope west Sapele and Okpe local government areas on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission DESOPADEC.
Mr. Randy, while presenting souvenir to Chief Ofa, said the former commissioner’s benevolence knows no bound as few years back during his tenure as the commissioner, he provided all they needed to operate for effective crime control.
The Vigilante leader said he is not a politician but one who believes in leadership exhibited in attending to the needs of the people, claiming that the records of the good works of Chief Ofa which dates back from his day at SUPERB and while at DESOPADEC board.
Chief Ofa thanked Mr. Randy and his group for the kind gesture and assured them that he will make a wider consultation with his party while advising the youth to always show appreciation to their benefactors so that they could be spurred to do more.
The Chairman of Ethiope West Council, Mr Solomon Golley, the Special adviser to the Governor on youth matter Mr. Favour Ededey, Comrade Ese Aghelegin the Ugo of Oghara Kingdom including Chief Ezekiel Akor who were present at the event appreciated Mr. Randy Timishe for the appreciation he gave to their brother, Chief Ofa.

GOVT RURAL DEV POLICY IS GRASSROOTS ORIENTATION – WILLIAMS
The Delta State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Rev (Mrs) Omatsola Williams has stated that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s rural development policy of his administration is geared towards according rural dwellers a sense of belonging as well as demonstrate the fact that the Governor is a grassroots man.
Rev (Mrs) Williams, who stated this at Ute-Ogbeje Community in Ika North East Local Government Area during the commissioning of the ICT Centre built through the World Bank and European Union intervention in collaboration with the state government and the community, said that the facility/centre would have multipliers effects on the community.
The commissioner lauded the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for providing the framework for communities in the state to benefit from the project by paying the state counterpart contribution and enjoined the community to make effective and efficient utilization of the facility as well as ensure its maintenance.
In his welcome address, the President-General of Ute-Ogbeje Development Union, Sir Ignatius Ebigwa said that the ICT centre would enable their children, especially students in the area to be well abreast with modern trends in technology.
Sir Ebigwa who restated the commitment of his executive and the entire community to leverage on every available opportunity to enhance the socio-economic well-being of his people, maintained that their children who would enroll in the school would have opportunity of starting from junior to senior classes no matter what subjects they may decide to offer and lauded the Ute-Ogbeje monarch as well as Pastor Robert Osahon and others illustrious sons and daughters for their contributions towards the growth and development of the community.
Also speaking, the Chief Inspector of Education in Ika North East, Mr. Kelly Kentoa who represented the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Chiedu Ebie stated that education was an important venture that could not be undertaken alone by government and called on good spirited individuals to emulate Ute-Ogbeje community, adding that the only way for the school to reciprocate the gesture was to protect the facility just as the Project Coordinator of the SEEFOR Projects, Mr. Benson Ojoko represented by Mr. Greg Agbongiagwe enjoined the community to safeguard the equipment at the centre.
In an interview, Pastor Robert Osahon, the person through whom the community keyed into the SEEFOR Project and the CPMC Chairman, Chief Sonwu Andrew expressed joy that the his community had fully benefitted from the scheme and thanked all stakeholders for rendering assistance to his community at every point of need.
