ONUESOKE SAYS PDP IS THE LARGEST POLITICAL PARTY IN AFRICA

Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and governorship aspirant in 2011 general election, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has reiterated that despite losing the Presidency to All Progressive Congress (APC)in last general election the PDP still remain the largest party in Africa.

Onuesoke who made the comment in an address he delivered during the celebration of the end of year party organized by PDP Solidarity Youths Forum in Kano said it is inimical for anyone to state that PDP is not the largest party in Africa when it is glaring that the current leadership of APC is being controlled by PDP members of 2014 and 2015.

“Is it in the House of Senate, Representative or office of the governor? You will discover that seventy five percent of the current office holders are members of PDP who either decamp to other parties, while others are still in PDP. The beauty of it all is that majority of the PDP defectors to APC are loyal to PDP and this is where PDP makes the different,” Onuesoke observed.

He argued that despite that PDP lost the Presidency to APC but it is still large enough to act as a formidable opposition to the ruling party, adding that PDP still has about 12 states in its’ control as well as the deputy senate president and a handful of senators and honorable members.

“If you go to any unit in the country and shout PDP, even a child will reply, because the party has structures in all parts of the country. No other political party has such national reach.

“Our party remains the largest party in Africa. We are determined to follow the provisions of the party’s constitution which is aimed at transforming the country and also providing the basic needs of our people.” he stated.

Onuesoke, however, appealed to leaders of the party to close ranks as they move closer to 2019 general elections for maximum result.

FADOLA GIVES DAUGHTER OUT IN MARRIAGE

It was aglow over the weekend as Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fadola, Assistant General Manager (Marketing), Delta Printing and Publishing Company of the Pointer Newspaper gave their first daughter Abimbola Rosemary out in marriage to March Adebayo Akinkuolie.

In an exhortation during the solemnization of marriage which took place at the Chapel of Christ the Light (Interdenominational) Alausa, Ikeja-Lagos, The Very Rev. Ayokunle Oyadotun said that for Christians, marriage is not only to reproduce offsprings and satisfy oneself but that it is meant to help and comfort one another both in prosperity and adversity.

Reading from The Book of Mathew 19:4-9, Rev. Oyadotun who frowned at divorce emphasized that in marriage husband and wife belong to one another for life. He says marriage “must not be undertaken carelessly, or selfishly but reverently, responsibly and after serious thoughts”.

Speaking in the same vein during the reception at Koga Event Hall, Ikeja; the Chairman of the Day, Mr. Sunday Bakare in his speech inferred that all people in the world are brothers and sisters saying that when God created the world he only made Adam and Eve, and so husband should treat their wives as sisters and vice versa.

Using the ideology of the tongue and the teeth, Bakare said though they sometimes bite themselves and do have misunderstanding that does not mean they would leave the mouth. Cautioning parents not to interfere with the matrimonial life of their children, he encouraged the couple to build their marriage on prayers.

The father of the bride, Mr. Fadola who was overwhelmed with joy as he spoke with newsmen during the occasion gave all the glory to God saying ever since he had Abimbola, she had never given him cause to regret in life. He said she listens to him and that she is one in a million children that everyone prays for. Fadola who expressed love for his daughter said that God loves him greatly and has never disappointed him. Stating further that, for giving him worthy children; God has made him the most blessed child on earth.

The bride, Abimbola Rosemary is a pharmacist, a graduate of The Madonna University, Elele, Okija-Anambra State and currently based in UK where she met the groom who is also a medical Doctor. SPECIAL ADVISER PAYS FINE TO REDEEM CONVICTS AS SHE CELEBRATES 5OTH BIRTHDAY

It was jubilation all through at the Federal Prisons Sapele, Delta State as four inmates regained their freedom courtesy of Evangelist (Mrs.) Mary Diden, Special Adviser to the Governor of Delta State on Women Mobilization on her 50th birthday celebration.

The four prisoners whose releases were effected by the Special Adviser to the Governor of Delta State after she paid their fines are Mr. Amejuma Philip, Mr. Abraham Atuma, Mr. Aghogho Oroyeh and Mr. John William.

The Comptroller of the Sapele Prisons DCP Ejekline Ahmed who received Mrs. Diden and her entourage to his office before the inmates were set free commended her for the gesture which he said is not common amongst women in the generation.

The prison comptroller, while appreciating God for giving her the courage to do good for humanity, prayed that as she continues to touch the lives of the less privileged in the society, God too will on His own, take care of her life including every member of her family, remarking that in the same vein in which these ones were set free without their knowledge, “God will continue to embarrass her and herfamily with abundant blessing from above.”

Mary Diden who mounted the chaplain pulpit at the prison, where thousands of worshippers/inmates were gathered for a brief church/birthday service, told the prisoners that she decided to come and put smiles on their faces, because God has saved her life all through various stages of life and also found her worthy of all material blessings, especially since forces of life could not hold her back because Jesus Christ is with her.

She explained that to celebrate a golden jubilee is worthwhile, hence she decided to celebrate with them since they too are important before God, remarking that many of the prisoners found their ways into the prison yard for offences for which they do not commit, while praying and admonishing them to have faith in God who only can set them free.

She charged them to put their trust in God only for the challenges they are passing through at the moment for God will take care of them, advising them to believe in men of God and their cases will be different, as she reminded them of her own case which had been very different because she trusted served her God diligently, as she gave a vivid account of all the blessings of God in her life through a wonderful testimony before the bewildered inmates, remarking that her appointment as a Special Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, is a divine position which she never lobbied for, but came from God himself.

She told them that because God has put smiles on her face, hence she too decided to visit them to put smiles on their faces, stressing that they “must key into the word of God and He will bless them”, while reading the scripture from the word of God in II Kings 2:7 to buttress her point.

Rev. Chukwuma Blessing, the Minister in charge of Mega Praise Church Sapele, founded by Deacon Mike Diden and his wife Deaconess Evangelist (Mrs.) Mary Diden in a sermon he titled “Without the Word of God, you are nobody”, Proverb 3:1, said the word of God is powerful, which all the inmates must key into.

He told the inmates that they should allow the word to stay in their hearts, since it performed signs and wonders, and that it is the same word of God that will set all the inmates free and that if they have Jesus as their companion, they have everything.

He said the word of God breaks the York, and that in its presence, no demon can overcome them, as he advised one present to be happy always and trust in God because God will send His people to set them free, reminding them that God allow them to be in the prison so that they can have testimony tomorrow because they are not useless to themselves and the society.

High points of the 50th year celebration of Mrs. Diden was the release of prisoners through the payment of their fines she made on their behalf, presentation of bags of rice, garri, provision, including toiletries, etc and special thanksgiving service at the Mega Praise Church of God where she also presented church electronic equipment to the church in appreciation to God for seeing her through.
