NIGERIA WOULD HAVE BEEN A BETTER COUNTRY, ONUESOKE REPLIES SEGUN ONI
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain and Delta State PDP 2007 Governorship Aspirant, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has reiterated that Nigeria would have been a better country without President Muhammadu Buhari emerging as President.
Onuesoke made the assertion in Abuja Airport, Abuja in reaction to the statement of former Governor of Ekiti State and now Deputy national chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Segun Oni that without Buhari Nigerians would have been refugees by now.
He said it is unfortunate that people in the likes of Segun Oni would continue to make excuses upon excuses to justify the conspicuous failure of the present APC administration instead of rolling up their sleeves and get down to doing the serious job of managing and growing the economy.
Hear him, “When a lie is repeated over and over, it begins to sound like the truth. In the darkest periods of Babangida and Abacha regime did Nigerian people became refugees? This is just a part way to keep on with excuse of failure and ineptitude. Segun Oni should realize that Nigerians are not only refugees under this present administration, they are suffering from kwashiorkor and mental affliction induced by the wayward mismanagement of the economy by the APC led administration. Move around the nooks and cranny of the country, from North to South, East to West and you will admit that things cannot be worse than what Nigerians are experiencing under this administration.”
Justifying his argument that without Buhari Nigeria would have been a better country, Onuesoke argued that since the coming of APC administration inflation rate had tripled, adding that bag of rice has increased from N6000 to N20,000, Dollar exchange rate increased from N168 to N500, bag of beans from N6,000 to N15,000, PMS that was N86 then, now N145 and diesel 135 then now sell N220.
He stated that there is no hope that the inflation will stop.
The PDP Chieftain recalled that leaders in the like of Segun Oni who fought former President Goodluck Jonathan when he was trying to put the economy in the right perspective are the same people who are now finding fault with his administration.
“Jonathan was trying to save for the raining days but members of Governors Forum under the leadership of Rotimi Amaechi protested demanding for the sharing of the fund in the federation account. When Jonathan said we should remove subsidy to save the economy was Segun Oni not among those who protested in Lagos for seven days. But when Buhari removed it they all kept quiet because they are members of APC,” he recalled.
