In furtherance of it’s determination to enforce the inter state boundary lock down, the Delta State government has set up a COVID-19 Boundary Enforcement Task Force Team to monitor compliance level of it’s directives.
The Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG) Mr. Chiedu Ebie who inaugurated the task force charged them to work closely with the Council Chairmen of the Local Government Areas if they were to succeed.
He said they should bear in mind that the boundary post had been put in place during the total lock down period hence they should work to strengthen the already existing arrangements in view of the prevailing situation.
The SSG urged the new body to be diligent in carrying out the task that has been assigned to them and admonished them to synergize with other security agencies that would work with them.
Mr Ebie explained that the task force would be broken down into thirteen (13) Teams to monitor the thirteen (13) locations within the State, with Coordinators and Supervisors to manage the activities of each Team.
He said for effective monitoring, the task force would be made up of a twenty (20) – man youth team drawn from land security/anti cult /vigilante and community youths to run on shift basis to be supported by the Police and DSS team.
Responding on behalf of the Coordinators and Supervisors, the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Chris Onogba and the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Ifeanyi Egwunyega assured that the task force would fully implement the State government’s directives on the inter-state boundary lock down as contained in the guidelines issued by the State government.
