The Delta State Government says it would continue to partner with the private sector to contain the spread of the Covid-19 Pandemic in the State.
The Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG) Mr. Chiedu Ebie made this known when he received on behalf of the State Government an ambulance, 3 coaster buses and health equipments donated by the oil and gas industry under the NNPC and Chevron joint venture for the management of the Covid-19 pandemic in the State.
The SSG said the State Government would continue to do it’s best to ensure it works towards containing the spread of the virus and also in the treatment and management of the confirmed cases recorded in the State.
Mr. Ebie stated that the Administration of Sen. Dr Ifeanyi Okowa is committed to containing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic hence it established a mini testing facility at the Asaba Specialist Hospital which he said could run about 40 tests per day, and this had increased the testing capacity of the State.
He thanked the management of NNPC/ Chevron for the donations and assured that the medical equipments would be put to maximum use.
Earlier, the Chairman and Managing Director, Chevron Nigeria limited, Mr. Jeff Ewing represented by the Area Manager Policy, Government and public Affairs, Mr. Sam Daibo said they were partnering with the State government because it was clear that government alone cannot fight the disease.
He said Chevron was fully involved in the NNPC led initiative to provide both tactical and strategic support to the coordinated efforts of government in the fight to defeat the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
The Chairman thanked the State Government for its effort in containing the spread of the virus in the State and for the continued support for their operations in the State.
