COVID-19: Serving Corps members donate items to State Government.

Corporate organizations and individuals in the State have been asked to join forces with the State Government in other to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the State.

The Secretary to the Delta State Government, Mr. Chiedu Ebie made this known when he received face masks and sanitizers produced by the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) members serving in the State on behalf of the State Government.

Mr. Ebie said the donation of face masks and hand sanitizers to the State Government by the Corps Members came at the right time even as he said the government had also commenced the mass production of face masks which he said in a short time would be distributed free of charge to Deltans and other residents of the State.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) said because of the large number of face masks to be produced, the government would collaborate with the NYSC by engaging the youth coppers in other to ensure that the face masks are produced within the shortest possible time.

He also reiterated the importance of using soap and water to wash ones hands thoroughly for about 20 seconds and that it was only when there was no soap and water then sanitizers could be used.

Mr. Ebie urged Deltans to adhere strictly to Covid-19 protocols set by the health authorities, such as staying at home, washing of one’s hands and wearing of face masks which he said to a large extent would help contain the spread of the virus.

He commended the corps members for the initiative and added that the state government would continue to support them in whatever way it can to make their service in the state more impactful.

Earlier the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Olutayo Samuel commended the state government for its proactiveness in containing the Covid-19 pandemic in the State even as she said this was what motivated the corps members to support the government in the fight against the covid-19 virus.

She said the skills acquired by the corps members from skill acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme created in 2012 is what they have used in producing the face masks and hand sanitizers, while also stating that in producing the items all safety measures were observed according to the World Health Organization standard.
