THE Delta State Government has approved the installation of two 33KVA BEDC Lines for the Ubulu Uku Sub-Station and the Asaba Station of Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Asaba.

According to a statement signed by the Media Assistant to the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Sam Ijeh, the approval is to ensure that DBS, Asaba, does not go off air as a result of power related issues.

He disclosed that DBS, Asaba, is located on a valley and as a result, it has to beam signals from its studio at Asaba to its Ubulu-Uku Sub-Station that is located on a higher plain for onward transmission to the entire state and beyond.

Over the years, the service has been struggling to power its 350KVA generator at the Ubulu-Uku Sub-Station to sustain its services on the terestial airwaves, the statement explained.

The Media Assistant said that the project, which has also been approved by BEDC, is presently on going and it is hoped that when completed, the station would be able to beam its signal on the air waves on a twenty-four basis.

Mr. Ijeh further stated that the Governor had earlier aprroved the installation of a 33KVA BEDC line for the Asaba Station which is presently on-going and would soon be completed.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has congratulated the Governor of the State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on the occasion of his 58th birthday anniversary on Saturday, July 8, 2017.

A statement personally signed by him stated that this year’s celebration is unique because it is coming at the same time the governor is also celebrating his mid term in office with laudable developmental projects to his credit.

The Commissioner noted that as a man who has transversed both the legislative and executive arms of government, the achievements of Senator Okowa, in spite of the prevailing economic recession, are not coming to him as a surprise.

According to the statement, ‘On behalf of the Ministry of Information, its parastatals and my family, I congratulate you, His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State, on your 58th birthday anniversary and pray God to give you the strength, peace of mind and most of all, good health, to continue to deliver your SMART Agenda to the people of the state.’
