DTSG Approves More Drainage Control Measures In Asaba

Delta State Government in her determination to checkmate the menace of incessant flooding from rain water, has approved the construction of more storm water control measures in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Disclosing this today in a meeting with Zonal Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers in the 25 local government area, the Commissioner for works, Chief James Augoye, explained that the storm water control measures are sited on Ralph Uwechue and DBS Roads and would discharge into the Anwai and Amilimocha rivers respectively.

Chief Augoye expressed displeasure that the contractors were yet to return to site despite the payment made to them by the State Government in December and directed all contractors handling road projects in the state to mobilize back to site before Monday, January 15th.

He further stressed that they make judicious use of the dry season as the rains would likely set in early as forecasted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

The Works commissioner enjoined the Superintending Engineers not to hesitate to report any contractor who flaunted the directives stressing that Government would do everything to ensure that all on-going projects were completed by within this dry season

Chief Augoye told the superintending Engineers to do a little more above performance by supervising contractors closely to ensue that works are done according to specifications.

Responding on behalf of the Superintending Engineers, the Engr Eric Chukwu pledged their resounding support to the actualization of the SMART Agenda of Governor Okowa.
