DTSG Commences Measles Vaccination Campaign

The state government through the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency is set to commence a 2 week measles vaccination campaign from 1st to 13th march 2018.

The Chairman of the Delta state Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Isioma Okobah disclosed this today while briefing the press on the campaign.

She said the measles vaccination campaign is a National Health Intervention Program conducted every three years.

She urged parents to take advantage of the numerous health services available in the health facilities as the State Government is striving for Health for all Deltans.

Dr. Okobah enjoined parents to avail their children of nine months to fifty nine months of the campaign, stressing that vaccines are safe, free and effective in preventing up to eight diseases.

While enumerating the benefits of measles vaccine, Dr. Okobah stated that the measles vaccines prevent children from blindness, deafness, lowered immunity and even death.

The Chairman said the Agency and her donor partners are working assiduously to make the campaign successful and achieve a 95% coverage target, she outlined the pre -implementation, implementation and post implementation activities which the Agency will carry out to enhance the campaign.

The Chairman, Directors and Donor Partners thereafter paid courtesy visit to the Hon. Commissioner for Health to intimate Him of the upcoming campaign.
