Delta State Government to Launch Comprehensive School Health Programme (DSCHP) in all schools in the LGAs of the State.
The State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency are partnering to realise the State Government Agenda of “Relevant Health and Education Policies” as encapsulated in the SMART agenda.
The Hon. Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education gave the assurance when he received on Advocacy Chairman and officials from the Delta state Primary Health Care Development Agency.
Mr. Ebie commended the Agency for the laudable program adding it would improve the health status of school children in the state.
He promised that the ministry would work with the chief inspector of Education in the field offices to sensitize school heads and parents for the need to embrace the school health program.
Earlier in her address, the Chairman of the Delta state primary Health care development Agency, Dr. Isioma Okobah said the advocacy was to seek the support of the ministry so that the objective of the Delta State Comprehensive School Health Program be achieved.
She said the Comprehensive school health program themed ” No Child left behind ” is aimed at the provision of promotive, preventive and curative health services to school children.
Dr. Okobah noted that the Comprehensive school health program is being adapted in furtherance of His Excellency’s Health for all Deltans (HeFAD) initiative.
The Chairman equally noted that the DSCHP will address the physical, mental, emotional, social dimensions of health and provide nutritious meals and health services to all primary and Secondary schools in the state as the Agency through the Health Department in the LGAs will deploy a nurse to oversee the program.
Dr. Okobah also used the visit to congratulate the Hon. Commissioner Mr. Chiedu Ebie on his emergence as the best commissioner in Delta State enjoining him to continue in advancing the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
