The Okowa led administration has set up a committee to look into the challenges affecting the State’s Independent Power Project (IPP).
The State Commissioner for Finance, David Edevbie, also the head of the committee, stated this while on a tour of the IPP facility at Oghareki in Ethiope West Local Government of Delta State, on the 18th of September 2017.
The Commissioner for Finance was at the project site to ascertain the level of work done so far as well as to assess the state of equipment procured especially in light of the fact that the project which is expected to generate 128 megawatts of power is yet to start functioning.
He assured that the committee’s conclusion would be available before the end of the first quarter of 2018, which would guide the State government to arrive at the most viable decision for the State.
In his company were financial advisers from Access Bank PLC, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy Mr. Ike Oduah, Director Investment and Loans, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Gibson Pinnick, other government officials, as well as the press.
