The Delta State Government has said that it would continue to give priority attention to the Education sector in the state, as it played a very crucial role in the SMART Agenda of the present administration.
Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Chiedu Ebie made this known when he inspected the ongoing construction of the new Government Secondary School in Ughelli, the renovation works being carried out in Urhobo College, Effurun and Chude Girls Model School, Sapele and the ongoing construction of modern classroom blocks at Ijorugu Primary School Oku-Ijorugu in Okpe Local Government Area.
The Commissioner reiterated, the State Government’s Commitment in developing the Basic and Secondary Education subsector, while noting that emphasis in the year 2018 would be placed on construction and equipping of the new schools established by the Okowa administration in other to make academic activities in these schools conducive.
Mr. Ebie also stated that renovation/upgrade of schools in Delta State would be a Continuous process as His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has given the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education the mandate to see that Basic Infrastructural facilities are provided for in schools in Delta State.
He urged the contractors handling the Ministry’s projects to keep to the contract specification in their bills of quantities in other to deliver quality jobs that would stand the test of time, as the state Government would not tolerate shoddy jobs done by the contractors and anyone found wanting would be sanctioned.
At the Government Secondary School Ughelli, the Commissioner expressed his satisfaction at the level of work done so far, and commended the contractor for doing a good job. At Urhobo College and Chude Girls Model Schools where renovation works was been carried out, Mr. Ebie urged the contractors to expedite action, so that the renovation work can be completed within the shortest possible time.
