The Delta State Government says it would continue to give priority attention to the Education sector in the state as it played a very crucial role in the smart Agenda of the present administration.
The Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Chiedu Ebie made this known when he inspected the ongoing construction of blocks of classrooms at Akwukwu-Igbo Grammar School, Oruchi Comprehensive High School, Okpanam, Madonna School for Children with special needs and Mgbala Primary School, Okpanam.
The Commissioner reiterated the State Government’s commitment in developing the Basic and Secondary Education subsector while noting that emphasis in the year 2018 would be placed on the construction of infrastructure and equipping of the new schools established by the Okowa administration in order to make academic activities in these schools conducive.
Mr. Ebie also stated that renovation/upgrade of schools in Delta State would be a continuous process as His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has given the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education the mandate to see that Basic Infrastructural facilities are provided for Schools in Delta State.
He urged the contractors handling the Ministry Projects to keep to the contract specification in their bills of quantities in other to deliver quality jobs, that would stand the test of time as the State Government would not tolerate shoddy jobs done by the Contractors and that anyone found wanting would be sanctioned.
At Oruchi Comprensive High School Okpanam, the Commissioner expressed his concern over the encroachment of the school land and said the Ministry would seek approval from the State Government so that the school could be fenced.
