GOVERNMENT SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The attention of the Delta State Government has been drawn to the illegal and harmful activities of some property developers who are in the habit of erecting structures along High Tension Electricity lines.

This act not only poses danger to lives and property, but also a huge threat to public utilities.

In this instance, it is necessary to draw the attention of the general public to the guidelines as contained in the State Urban and Regional Planning Law that property developers should maintain a distance of 25metres when erecting structures near a 3.30kilo volt lines, 15metres away from 132kilo volt lines and 3 metres away from 33kva lines and 11 kilo volt lines.

Accordingly, the Delta State Government has by this announcement enjoined property developers to desist from erecting structures along high tension electricity lines because of inherent danger and to maintain the distances as stipulated in the state urban and Regional planning law in the interest of the safety and well being of the members of the public and their families.
