THE Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa has reassured Deltans that despite the present daunting economic challenge which the country is currently going through, the task of developing the state remains his topmost priority
The governor stated this at the weekend in Owa-Ekei, Ika North East Local Government Area of the state during the 30th anniversary ceremony of Door of Faith Mission incorporated.
Governor Okowa who was represented at the ceremony by the former Acting Governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Prince Sam Obi said he will not renege on his campaign promises of ensuring unequalled socio-economic developments across the nooks and crannies of the state, adding that his campaign promise of “Prosperity For All Deltans” still remains sacrosanct.
Essentially, the governor noted that his administration is still irrevocably committed to its vision of empowering many more youths in the state in order to ensure that they (Delta youths) realised their dreams and economic aspirations despite the present national economic challenge.
He therefore, called on Deltans both at home and in the Diaspora, particularly religious leaders and Christian faithful to continue to pray for him and his cabinet for more wisdom, grace and enablement to surmount the present challenge, saying, “Honestly, we need the cooperation of all Deltans, particularly at this material time for us to move the state forward”.
Continuing, the governor said, “I want to use this medium to reassure Deltans that we are doing everything possible within our reach to ensure that we stick to our vision and determination of developing the state despite the present economic challenge.
“We will continue to empower our youths for them to realise their dreams despite the daunting economic challenge. I am convinced that with your prayers, we will definitely surmount the economic challenge.
“The ‘Change’ we are experiencing today in the country does not in any way spare anybody, both the rich and the poor. Therefore, we need the cooperation of all Deltans in order for us to move this state forward,” Okowa stressed.
Earlier in his address at the ceremony, the General Overseer of the Church, Apostle Michael Asiwe had commended the state governor for what he described as the massive socio-economic developments in the state within the first one year of the governor’s administration, adding that the church will continue to back him up in prayers in order for him to actualise and execute his plans for the overall development of the state
