Ministry of Health gives cash prizes to deserving members of staff.

The online Productivity Enhancement Quiz for professionals in the Delta State Health sector aimed at Health Systems Strengthening has been concluded with the finalists carting away cash prizes.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health (Mrs.) Minnie Oseji who gave out prizes to the winners said the essence of the competition was to sustain the lessons learnt from an earlier workshop organized by Yenpil Resources Limited and sponsored by the Ministry of Health in December, 2019.

She added that the underlying philosophy behind the quiz is that entrenching a performance culture as well as healthy competition amongst workers will stimulate creativity and innovation which will in turn culminate in increased productivity.

According to the Permanent Secretary, the best five participants in the quiz were the semi-finalists in the oral quiz and they received a cash prize of twenty thousand naira (N20, 000.00) each from the Ministry.

She said the prize money of fifty thousand naira (N50, 000.00) for the overall winner was shared between Dr. Chuks Agholor, Zonal Medical Director, General Hospital Okwe-Asaba and Mr. Charles Kokole, Health Information Manager, Burutu Local Government Health Authority) as a result of the tie between the two finalists.

During the presentation of cash awards and certificates to the winners, Dr. Oseji revealed that another round of the quiz has been slated later in December.

The other three participants who made it to the semi-final stage were: Mrs. Christiana Oteri, Principal, School of Nursing, Warri; Mrs. Patience Ukpe, Principal Accountant, Ministry of Health and Mrs. Mabel Emerure, Chief Community Health Extension Worker, Ministry of Health.

The courses featured in the workshop included Effective Minute/Speech Writing; Overview of Financial Management and Budgeting in the State Public Service; Decision making Process in the State Public Service; Delegation of Powers in the Civil Service for Delta State; Discipline in the Civil Service of Delta State and Good Industrial Relations: Panacea for Achieving Industrial Peace and Harmony.
