ASSIST THE NEEDY, GOV OKOWA TELLS WEALTHY NIGERIANS
The Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has called on wealthy Nigerians and individual organisations to always assist the needy and vulnerable group.
Governor Okowa made the call recently at Iselegu, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State during an empowerment programme, organised by Chika’s Foundation which has the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Hon. Chika Ossai as Chairman.
According to the Governor, “there are some persons who believe that they will have so much before they render assistance, it should not be so, that is why we are happy that Hon. Ossai is empowering the people, this should be emulated, you don’t need to have so much before you can assist people.”
The Governor who was elated at the large turnout of people, including the nature of the empowerment programme urged political office holders to emulate Hon. Ossai who, despite the economic situation of the country was able to empower his constituent.
He used the occasion to thank the people of Ndokwa East Local Governments Area for their support for his administration, stating that his administration would continue to deliver dividends of democracy.
Hon. Ossai, at the occasion, commended Governor Okowa for creating the enabling environment for his aides to meet with the yearnings of the people.
Earlier, the Governor had attended the dedication of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Iselegu, built by Hon. Ossai, where he commended him for building a house for God.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Okowa stated, “Those who build for the Lord never lack, it is good to build for the Lord because, when church comes to a place, it will bring peace, progress and prosperity to the people in the community.”
In a homily, The Bishop of Warri Diocese of the Catholic Church, Most Rev. John Afareha who was represented by Very Rev. Fr. Vincent Owoaka delivered through Rev. Fr. Jude Igho commended Hon Ossai for building for the Lord, stating, “those who build for the Lord, build specifically for spiritual exercise, those who have the means to build for the Lord, should not relent.”
Present at the occasion were the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborovweri; Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi; Chief Godswill Obielum and other politicians attended the event.
High point of the occasion was the distribution of cars, sewing machines, spraying machines for herbicides, wrappers, and cash of N5 million to some of the beneficiaries.

DTSG PLEDGES TO PARTNER EGBEMA GBARAMATU COMMUNITIES ON FACILITY UTILIZATION
Delta State Government has pledged to partner with the Egbema Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation (EGCDF), to ensure effective use of the facilities provided by the Foundation for the benefit of Deltans.
The Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Festus Agas made the pledge in Asaba when members of the Foundation and representatives of Chevron Nigeria Limited paid him a visit in his office.
Hon. Agas said the Okowa led administration placed high premium on health service delivery and assured that the two cottage Hospitals and other medical facilities, as well as the schools provided by the Foundation at Oporoza, Warri South West and Shekelewu Warri North, would be put to good use to meet the health care needs of the inhabitants of the area.
He commended the group for providing a conducive environment for the company and other stakeholders to operate in the area and urged other communities to emulate the good gesture of the foundation.
The SSG congratulated the group on its successful completion of the cottage hospitals and schools in the area, assuring that the state Government would look into the problems of teachers and hospital personnel.
The Chairman of the EGCDF, Comrade Jude Ukori said that they were in the SSG’s office to solicit the assistance of the Government towards equipping the cottage hospitals and schools built by the Foundation.
Comrade Ukori noted that the projects were initiated by the Chevron Nigeria limited but ware completed by the Foundation, adding that the group had the mandate to interface with the company and the communities to ensure peaceful co-existence.
He listed the challenges facing the communities to include lack of teachers, hospital personnel and other facilities including drugs.
Speaking in an interview with correspondent Emeka Okonkwor, Comrade Jude Ukori appealed to the State Government to come to their aid to enable the people of the area acquire quality education as well as healthcare delivery and advised members of the communities to avail themselves the opportunity to be educated.
Members of the Foundation were accompanied by representatives of the Chevron Nigeria Limited Mr. Dan Agbofode and Mr Emma Emeribe.

EBIE ATTRIBUTES REVIVAL OF PRINCIPALS CUP TO GOV OKOWA’S LOVE FOR GRASSROOT SPORTS
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Chiedu Ebie has said the revival of the Principals Cup is one of the programs outlined by His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa towards enhancing grassroots sports in the state.
Mr Ebie made this known at the kickoff/opening match for the Zenith Bank Delta Principals Cup which was played at the Sports Field at St Patrick College, Asaba.
He said that the governor was keen on redirecting the focus of young Deltans to meaningful ventures so that they could become useful to themselves and not destroy their future, emphasizing that it was what prompted the Governor to give express approval for the revival of the Principals Cup.
The Deputy Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Mr Ebenezer Onyeagwu, represented by the Zonal Head, Asaba Mr Lucky Ighade, promised that the bank would sustain the partnership with the Delta State Government in order to discover talents that would do the nation proud in international competitions.
The opening match between Master Care International School, Asaba and Comprehensive High School Ogwashi-Uku was keenly contested and ended in a 1-1 draw.
Highlight of the event was the kick-off for the Zenith Bank Delta Principals Cup which was taken by Engr Emeka Nwobi, Chairman, House Committee on Sports and member representing Aniocha North in the Delta State House of Assembly.

DTSG APPROVES IMPLEMENTATION OF SMART CITY INITIATIVE IN STATE-OWNED TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS
Delta State Government has approved the implementation of the Delta State SMART CITY initiative in all State-owned Tertiary Institutions in the State.
A statement signed by the functioning Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information indicated that to ensure the successful implementation of the initiative, the State Ministry of Science and Technology has drawn up an “Action Plan and Initiation Deployment Questionnaire” for the deployment of the Education Campus Management System in all Delta State-owned Tertiary Institutions.
The statement advised all State-owned Tertiary Institutions to populate the questionnaire which had already been circulated through the Ministry of Higher Education.
It further enjoined that completed questionnaire should be returned to the Office of the State Commissioner for Higher Education on or before Friday November 3, 2017 unfailingly.

UKWUANI LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL ASSURES STAFF OF A GOOD DEAL.
Staff Ukwuani Local Government Council have been assured of a better deal in spite of the financial constraints besieging councils in the state.
The Head of Personnel Management (HPM) Dr. F.O. Atube, gave the assurance while addressing the staff recently.
The HPM who doubles as the current Head of administration in the Council thanked the workers for their cooperation with the Clock in and Clock out adopted by the state government to check the lackadaisical attitude of some council staff.
He encouraged the workers to always come to work on time; clock in appropriately; stay on their duty posts and clock out appropriately at the end of the day. “Come to work and stay on your duty posts, and ensure that you clock in and out appropriately because a committee has been set up to weed out those who have not been clocking in and out the right way,” he stated.
The HPM conveyed the praise of the Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa to the staff for their cooperation with the clock in and clock out policy, noting that the clock in and out was instituted to clean up the system and to ensure that only those who come to work were remunerated.
Dr. Atube disclosed that it was because the system failed to manage the workforce hence the government’s intervention with the clock in and clock out, adding that by the end of April 2018 the InfoSec Database would be handed over to the Local Government Service Commission to manage.
He called on the staff to remain committed to the job, be effective and productive adding that plans were in top gear to pay up all arrears owed council workers in the state as promised by the state government.

OSAKUNIH HANDS OVER MANTLE OF LEADERSHIP TO HPM
The immediate past Chairman, Ukwuani Local Government Council, Hon. Barr Benedicta Ndudi Osakunih-Izuegbu has officially handed over to the Council’s Head of Personnel Management (HPM), Dr. F. O Atube who will act as the Head of the council.
While handing over, Hon. Osakunih-Izuegbu noted that amongst others things that her administration brought a state-of-art Digital Capacity Centre to the Local Government Council, which she said, the youths could utilized to acquire technological skills that would help them stay in tune with the trends in the 21st century beyond social networking.
According to her, the Digital Capacity Centre located at the Uduaghan Resource Centre, Obiaruku was built with the support of the National Information Technology Agency (NITDA).
Hon Benedicta encouraged Ukwuani people to continue to pursue their individual and collective dreams while adding that ideas must be built upon before they could be meaningful.”When you have any idea, however small or big, develop it – whatever it is, do not be cowed by some supposed impossible dreams; see impossibilities as a motivation that you can dare and overcome. Don’t let anybody talk or threaten you out of your dreams,” she stated.
Continuing, She said, “Stand out and let your voice be heard however faint it might sound! Make it an intention to serve because service comes with blessings. When you serve you are blessed,” she stated.
Hon. Benedicta advised the Ukwuani people to continue to aspire higher and higher in order to reach for their goals and achieve their dreams.
She described the Acting Head of the Council, Dr. Atube as an astute administrator who would steer the Council in the right direction, using the occasion to commend the members of the immediate past executive of the Ukwuani Local Government Council for their immense support and cooperation while her administration lasted.
She thanked God for the successful completion of her tenure in spite of the challenges that were on her way, her family members and the people of Ukwuani Local Government Area for their support.
Responding, the Acting Head of Administration/HPM, Ukwuani Local Government Council, Dr. F. O Atube congratulated and commended Hon Benedicta for the successful completion of her tenure and for her administrative ingenuity. He prayed God to continue to bless and promote her even as he wished her Godspeed in all her future endeavors in life.

EDUCATION CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY LAYS FOUNDATION FOR 2-STOREY BUILDING
Members of Education Multipurpose Co-operative Society, Effurun on Tuesday laid the foundation for their 2-storey multipurpose building at Eyesan Junction, Emebiren Street, Okumagba Layout, Warri.
In his key note address the Chairman of the multipurpose co-operative society, Mr. Emmanuel Ukeredi explained that the project was embarked upon to diversify the business of the co-operative society by generating more income and remain in the state of profitability.
He noted that it would be suicidal for the cooperative society to continue to rely only on loan interest as a source of income, saying, “As a matter of fact, the building when completed will contain the society’s permanent office, an event hall, a processing factory and a warehouse.”
Mr . Ukeredi who disclosed that the financing of the project was made possible with the assistance of the Board Trust Montage Bank Limited, thanked members for sharing the vision of the executives of the cooperative society on the project.
The managing director of Delta Trust Montage Bank, Mrs Ruby commended the executives of the cooperative society for the vision and for ensuring that the project is completed even as she appealed to community youths in the state to give peace a chance, asserting that no meaningful development can strive in an unfriendly environment “peace is the bedrock for meaningful development.”
She also disclosed that the establishment of the Montage Bank was one of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s agenda of repositioning banks to support Deltans in their quest to own, renovate and purchase a home of their choice.
She then called on other cooperative societies and net worth individuals to emulate Education Multipurpose Cooperative Society, adding, “To avail themselves of this unique opportunity in order to key-in into the various windows available in our bank”.

OKOWA MOURNS DEATH OF TINUBU’S FIRST SON, JIDE
Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has expressed deep sadness over the death of Jide Tinubu, first son of All Progressives Congress Leader, Senator Bola Tinubu.
Governor Okowa in a condolence message to the Tinubu family signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, described the late Jide Tinubu as a gentleman who was passionately devoted to his career as a reputable lawyer. “On behalf of the Government and people of Delta State, i identify with the Tinubu family at this trying period”. “It is painful to lose one’s child but we are comforted with the fact that he lived a quiet but eventful life”.
Governor Okowa prayed God Almighty to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss. “I believe in your capacity to overcome this painful lose. May the Lord grant you and your family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he said.

PROPHET BROFA DEDICATES DAUGHTER TO GOD
St. Akpata’s New Jerusalem Church of God, Ughelli branch played host to eminent personalities from far and near as renowned Prophet and Mrs Dennis Brofa dedicated their new born baby girl, Princess Ejiroghene Brofa to God last weekend.
Speaking during the church service, Prophet Dennis Brofa and his wife Orevah gave thanks to God for the gift of their baby girl just as they thanked those who graced the event.
The event featured prophetic inistration by Prophet Brofa who also anointed and delivered many that were afflicted with spirit problems, urging Christians to rely on the name of Jesus Christ for their deliverance.
Earlier in his sermon the Officiating Pastor Atas Ogen, admonished that Christians should always do good things so that they would not be found wanting before God.
Highpoint of the event which also featured special Cherubim dance was the dedication of the child by the Minister in charge of the branch Dr Venerable J.I Esegine.
