OKOWA ASSURES NIGERIAN ARMY SUPPORT TO ENSURE PEACE, SECURITY

Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has pledged his support and readiness to assist the Nigeria Army In ensuring the attainment of peace and security in the state.

The governor gave this assertion through his representative, Secretary to the State Government, Mr Chiedu Ebie, during the flagged off of the operation “crocodile smile IV” at the camp of the operation which share a boundary between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh community.

According to the State governor, the state is ready to support the Army in it measures to achieve the desired peace in the Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh community.

He noted that this operational exercise was to help soldiers of 63 Brigade brush up their military capabilities towards curbing crimes especially check-mating cases of kidnapping, armed robbery and cultism.

The governor also commended the Nigerian Army of carrying out this exercise in the state, stressing that Nigerian Army has remained disciplined and professional in the discharged of its duties, hoping it would further strengthen the partnership between the Army and his administration in the reduction of possible elimination of crime and violence in the state.

Earlier the commander of the 63 Brigade, Brigadier Gen  Usman Bello represented by Col. Nyong Orok Stated that the exercise was to ensure that violence, crimes, illegal bunkering were curtailed in the communities and not to witch hunt them but to work in synergy with other securities agents in the area in the attainment of peace and harmony .

He also promised that they have medical outreach unit that can care for their health challenges to show that the Army meant well for the communities.

In appreciation, the Chairman of Udu Local Government Area, Hon. Brown Onajite thanked the Nigerian Army and the state government, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for his tremendous effort in ensuring that the people of Aladja in Udu Local Government Area its neighbouring community (Ogbe-Ijoh) live in peace and harmony.

He therefore advised the youths to eschew violence or any action capable of breaching peace and security.

His counterpart the chairman of Warri South West, Hon. Taiye Tuoyo warned the youth to shun violence, stating that the operation “crocodile smile IV” have Zero tolerance to crime of any form.
