The Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa is to be honoured by the United Bishops and Eminent Clerics Initiatives of Nigeria, (UBECION), holding in Asaba this Thursday, 27 July, 2017, for his job creation and developmental stride since assumption of office.
The award ceremony which is part of the one day conference of the United Bishops and Eminent Clerics Initiatives of Nigeria, (UBECION), a faith based organisation for the advocacy of Good Governance, Peace Initiative and Ministerial Networking.
According to the statement from the organisers, UBECION as an inter-denominational body founded in 2014 is majorly open to Bishops and Ministers of the Gospel within South South and South East Region of this Country and believes in championing the course in Niger-Delta region through fruitful engagement with Government at all levels and most importantly through Prayers and Conferences.
The Regional Conference being packaged with the theme: “Prayer And Peace For Sustainable Development” will unite all participants drawn from these Region and also impact positively on the peaceful co-existence of all religious bodies in the State in particular and the Region in general, thereby boosting the peaceful atmosphere for the continued Development of the State.
The statement further stated that the gathering of a multitude of religious leaders from Niger Delta in the State will lead to the spiritual upliftment of the State as prayers would be made for the present administration and the State in general.
At the Conference, the Governor, Senator Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa who will be the Special Guest of Honour, will be honoured with an Award of Excellence for “Job Creations and Developmental Strides”, which is in recognition of his outstanding performance within his first two years in office.
It further stated that the body appreciates the governor, especially his willingness to meet with the good people of Delta State via his ongoing town-hall meetings within LGAS across the State.
This transparent move by the Governor and his Team is highly commendable and should be emulated by serving Governors in Nigeria as a true display of stewardship.
