DELTA State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has called on Nigerians to ensure that their lives impact positively on the society.

The Governor made the call (19/02/16) while speaking at the burial ceremony of Mrs. Christiana Uzor, mother of the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Edwin Uzor at Oko, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State.

“In your various communities, in your places of work and wherever you find yourself, do the best you can to impact positively on the lives of the people because, when you are long gone, the impact of what you have done will remain.” Governor Okowa advised politicians.

“In our various communities, what will you be remembered for?” Governor Okowa rhetorically asked at the ceremony which was attended by his Deputy, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro and prominent politicians and political office holders both in the state and beyond.

He lauded the large turnout of the people for the event describing it as show of love for the party chairman, emphasizing, “we will definitely leave this world but, what will we be remembered for? That is the question each and every one of us should ask and it is important that we look up to God while impacting positively on the lives of those around us.”

The Governor described the deceased as “a hardworking woman who strived through farming and trading to train her children despite losing her husband at an early age.”

Chief Uzor at the occasion, thanked members of the PDP and well wishers for coming out to give his mother a befitting passage, disclosing, “my mother was a hardworking woman who believed in truth and honesty.”

Earlier in a sermon, the Bishop of Asaba Diocese of the Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Justus Mogekwu said people should know that every step they take brings them closer to their graves and as such, they should be conscious of their lifestyle.

“It doesn’t matter the position you have attained in life, one day, God will ask you to account for what you did in life,” he said, adding, “any life outside Jesus Christ is a wasted life; whatever you do, have time for God otherwise, you are, a fool.
