In his avowed commitment to building a Newspaper that will compete favourably with other Newspapers operating within the South South sub-region, the Honourable Commissioner for Information Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu today (12/05/2020) donated equipment to enhance the productivity of the state owned media, The Pointer Newspaper.
Making the presentation, the Commissioner urged the management and staff to ensure that the equipment were judiciously utilised and maintained to enhance output and durability since accountability must be established to checkmate misuse of the equipment.
The Commissioner stated that all that the Government has been doing to upgrade the newspaper was to ensure that it serves Deltans and the sub-region effectively hence the need to properly equip the staff through the purchase of equipment, building befitting structures and generally making the working environment conducive.
While commending the management for the noticeable improvement in their output especially as regards their Editorial, Mr. Aniagwu urged other Departments to also complement what was going on in the Newsroom Department. He especially urged the Marketing Department to adopt strategies that will enhance the income generation ability of the Company while promising that within the week funds will be provided to upgrade the Company’s website.
The General Manager of Pointer Newspapers, Mr. Monday Uwagwu responding on behalf of the staff and management commended the Commissioner for his dynamic approach to the management of the Company which had translated to improved output from highly motivated staff.
He promised the equipment will be put to good use thereby justifying the confidence reposed on the staff.
