COMMERCIAL TRANSPORT COMPANY OWNER, OTHERS LAUD OKOWA OVER DRAINAGE CONSTRUCTION
By Ambrose Ologide/ Henry Aghoghovbia/Stella Oziwo/Stella Othobor.

The Chairman/CEO of Faith Motors Nigeria Limited, Mr George Eburu and commercial tricycle (popularly known as keke) riders have lauded Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for embarking on the on-going drainage construction projects on both sides of the Effurun/Sapele Road, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area.

Speaking to our correspondents on the project in a media interaction, Mr Eburu hoped that the drainage construction projects when completed would solve the flooding problems in Enerhen Junction.

He sadly noted that immediately after any heavy down pour, the Enerhen Junction area would be over flooded with water making it impassable for vehicle users and even pedestrians to access the road and that it also caused heavy traffic jam if the level of the flood is not high.

On his part, a keke rider, Lucky Ogheneovo spoke in the same vein, “When there is such a chaotic situation, we record low patronage in business.
So Governor Okowa should been given kudos for embarking on the project. It shows that he is a governor that listens to the plights of the people”

He however urged the contractor handling the project to hasten up work on the project to allow easy flow of traffic on the said road as he bitterly complained that work on the road often caused traffic hold ups.

A fellow keke rider, Comrade Desmond Ukpong, said that he was concern about the quality of the job done as he identified poor quality of job as the cause of the perennial flooding in Enerhen Junction, saying “It is my prayer that they should get it right this time around “

A site engineer who preferred anonymity, assured that the construction firm handling the project, Planet Project would do a quality job, promising further that the project would be completed without delay.

He solicited for the continuous patience and understanding of vehicle users plying the ever busy road.

He noted that the local government frowns at the act saying it also constituted an environmental hazard and called for conscious effort by all to avert any harm to the environment.

On the redevelopment of the Junior Staff Quarters, the commissioner said that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa placed a very high premium on the state civil servants to own their homes, saying that it was why the governor approved the owner-occupation policy.
