Local Government Education secretaries in the state have been asked to collaborate with the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education so as to realise the stronger Delta vision of His Excellency, Senator Dr, Ifeanyi Okowa.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education Chief Patrick Ukah made this known when he played host to the National Association of Local Education Secretaries of Nigeria (NAESN)Delta State Chapter in his office.
Chief Ukah noted that for the Local Education Secretaries (LEA)to be successful in their duties they must partner with the Chief Inspectors of Education in the Ministry’s field office’s across the twenty-five local government’s as this synergy would help sustain the progress so far made in the education sector.
He admonished them to shun every form of rivalry as both the CIE’s and the LEA’s were partners in progress and that such rivalries was not healthy for the education sector of the state.
The Commissioner also charged them to interface with their various communities by partnering with the traditional rulers, community development association and community vigilante’s to secure school facilities in schools as they understood the security architecture of the communities and this would go a long way in curbing theft and vandalisation in public schools across the state.
The Commissioner assured them of his Ministry’s support in ensuring that they succeed in their assignment as Local Education Secretaries.
Earlier in his remarks,the Dean of the association Comrade Alexander Osadme assured the Commissioner of his associations continued partnership with the ministry, while stating that as stakeholders in the education sector, they would continue to make valuable input towards the development of the education sector in the state.
