The Delta State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has reiterated the resolve of his administration to remain committed to the betterment of education in the state.
The Governor made this promise at the commissioning of the Ogbagu Primary School, Ogbagu-Ogume in the Ndokwa West Local Government Area, stressing that the new blocks of classrooms came about as a result of the collaboration between the SUBEB and the UBEC with the financial intervention of the state government.
He charged the pupils of the school to ensure that the effort of the government to create a conducive learning environment is not put to waste and advised the m to be attentive to the teachers and focused in their studies.
The Governor called on the teachers to be diligent in the execution of their duties and admonished them to desist from conducting other extraneous businesses during school hours, warning that anyone found wanting would be appropriately dealt with.
In a welcome address delivered by Chief Tony Ntekume, Chairman, Board of Trustees of Ogume-Ogbagu, the Governor was commended for his efficient and effective management of funds especially in the face of the harsh economic climate.
The Governor had earlier in the day commissioned 5 rehabilitated and 2 newly built classroom blocks at the Umuaja and Onyia Primary Schools in Umuaja town in Ukwani Local Government Area.
He decried the vandalism of the of the Borehole project in the school by hoodlums and charged the community to join hands to safeguard the projects as the projects are meant to serve not only the school, but the community as a whole.
